Get started, no coding needed
This guide takes about 15 minutes. By the end you will have a chat bubble on your website that answers your visitors' questions from your own content, and passes the questions it cannot answer to you. You do not need to know how to code. Every step says exactly what to click.
What you need
- An email address, to sign up. The 7-day trial needs no card.
- The address of your website (for example www.yourshop.com), or some text you can paste, such as your FAQs.
- An AI key. This is a secret password for the AI service that writes the answers. You get one free in about two minutes (Step 2).
Words you will see
- Bot (or widget)
- The chat bubble on your website. One account can have several bots.
- Knowledge base
- What the bot knows: your web pages, FAQs, documents. It answers only from this, and says “I don't know” otherwise.
- AI key
- A secret code from an AI company (Google, OpenAI or Anthropic). You pay them directly, usually a few cents a month, and Techvea adds nothing on top.
- Hand-off and ticket
- When the bot cannot help, the visitor can leave their email. That chat becomes a ticket for you to answer.
- Widget ID
- A short code like
wgt_a1b2c3d4e5that tells your website which bot to show.
1Sign up
- Open techvea.com/signup, or press Start free at the top of any page.
- Enter your business name, your email and a password, tick the Verify you are human box, and press Create account.
- Check your inbox for the welcome email and confirm if it asks you to. You are now on the 7-day trial with all Growth-plan features.
2Get an AI key (2 minutes, free to start)
The bot needs an AI service to write its answers. The easiest is Google Gemini, which has a free tier.
- Open aistudio.google.com/apikey and sign in with any Google account.
- Press Create API key, then press the copy button next to the key it shows.
- Keep that page open. You will paste the key in the next step.
Prefer OpenAI or Anthropic (Claude)? The AI key guide shows all three, with pictures of where to click and what it costs.
3Let the setup assistant build your bot
On your dashboard's Overview page, type a name for your bot (for example “Shop support”) and press Create my bot. You can also press New at the top right. The bot's page opens with a box called “Set up your bot in one minute”. It does the hard part for you.
- 1. Add your AI key. Choose Gemini (or OpenAI or Anthropic), paste the key into the box that says “Paste the key here”.
- 2. Your website. Type your website address. The assistant reads your pages (this takes up to a minute; keep the page open) and learns your content. No website? Skip this and add your FAQs in Step 4.
- 3. Name and look. Pick a bot name and a welcome message such as “Hi! Ask me anything about our shop.” The assistant can also copy your site's color. Press Looks good, apply.
- Press Build my bot. When you see “Your bot is ready” you are done with the hard part.
Closed the box, or want to start again?
4Teach the bot (the Knowledge Base)
The bot is only as good as what it knows. In the left menu, under Set up, open Knowledge Base.
- Add a URL: paste a page address (for example your FAQ or shipping page) and press add. The bot reads it.
- Paste the content: copy text from anywhere, such as your return policy, and paste it in. Give it a short title.
- Upload a file: add a PDF or text file, such as a price list or manual.
Start with your five most-asked questions: opening hours, prices, shipping, returns, contact. Short, clear text works better than long pages. You can come back and add more any time; the bot learns instantly.
5Test it before anyone else sees it
- In the left menu open Test chat.
- Ask five real questions your customers ask. Also ask one the bot should not know, such as “What is the capital of Australia?”.
- A good result: it answers from your content, and for the unrelated question it says it does not know and offers to pass it to a person.
- A wrong or empty answer? The information is probably missing. Add it in the Knowledge Base (Step 4) and ask again.
6Put it on your website
Choose the way that matches your site:
- WordPress or WooCommerce: install the free Techvea Support Bot plugin, paste your Widget ID, done. It takes about 3 minutes.
- Shopify: follow the Shopify steps. You paste one line into your theme.
- Webflow, Framer, Squarespace, Ghost or any other site: see the platform guides.
- Any other site or someone builds it for you: paste this line just before the closing
</body>tag of your pages, with your own Widget ID:
<script src="https://techvea.com/widget.js" data-widget-id="YOUR_WIDGET_ID" async></script>Where is my Widget ID? Open your bot in the dashboard, then Settings (the Basics part). The Embed code box at the top already contains your Widget ID, so you can copy the whole line. Channels shows the same code.
No website at all? Under Channels you get a full-page chat link and a QR code to put in an Instagram bio, an email signature or a printed menu.

7Decide where alerts go
When the bot cannot help and a visitor leaves their email, you want to hear about it quickly.
- Open your bot, then Behavior in the left menu.
- Check the notification email is one you read daily.
- Optional: add a Slack address for instant messages (Slack alerts guide), or connect your ticket tool such as Freshdesk, Jira or HubSpot under Integrations.
8After you go live: your daily routine (5 minutes)
- Tickets (under Inbox): questions the bot could not answer. Reply from there; the answer goes to the visitor's email.
- Insights (under Analytics): which questions the bot missed. Add that information to the Knowledge Base and it will answer next time. This is the fastest way to make the bot better.
- Responses (under Analytics): everything the bot said, so you can spot a wrong answer.
If something does not work
| What you see | What to try |
|---|---|
| No chat bubble on my site | Check the Widget ID has no extra spaces. Refresh with Cmd+Shift+R (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows). If your site has a cache or speed plugin, clear it. Open the page in a private window. |
| The bot says it cannot answer anything | Open AI Provider and check the key is saved. Then add content in the Knowledge Base. |
| The bot gives a wrong answer | Find the right text in your Knowledge Base, or add it. Remove old pages that say something different. |
| The bubble only shows on some pages | The script must be on every page. In WordPress the plugin does this for you; in other systems paste it in the site-wide footer. |
| I am not getting alert emails | Check the spam folder, then the address under Behavior. Press Send a test where you see it. |
Still stuck? Read the FAQ, or email us from the contact page and tell us what you see.
