FAQ

Straight answers, including where the product falls short today.

Do I need to know how to code?
No. Installing the widget is copy-pasting one script tag. If your site is on WordPress or Shopify, there's a specific field for this in the theme editor — see the installation guide. If you'd rather not do even that, Techvea can set it up for you — see Services in the nav.
Where does my AI key get stored?
In our database, encrypted with AES-256-GCM. It's decrypted only in-memory, server-side, at the moment a request needs to call your AI provider — it's never sent to the browser and never shown again after you save it.
Where is my visitors' data stored, for how long, and has Techvea been security audited?
Chats, tickets and contacts are stored in our database, which runs on Hostinger, our hosting provider. Chats are kept until you delete them, or until the automatic deletion period you choose (30, 90, 180 or 365 days). You can export or erase an account's data from the dashboard. There is no outside security audit yet, and we say so. What we do have: encryption of your AI key and connection keys, a lock to your own domain, an activity log, and a policy of not selling or sharing visitor data.
Can I see what my AI usage is costing me?
Not inside the Techvea dashboard today — you'd check your AI provider's own dashboard (OpenAI, Google AI Studio, or Anthropic Console), since the API calls are billed directly to your account with them, not through us.
What happens if my AI provider has an outage?
The widget will show an error message to visitors ('Service temporarily unavailable') rather than hang indefinitely. It doesn't automatically fail over to a different provider.
Does the Support Bot know about my whole website?
Only what you give it. You can import your site from its sitemap or a list of links, upload PDFs and other documents, or type text in. It answers from those and does not search the internet. Re-sync after you change your pages, or the bot keeps answering from the old copy.
Can visitors break out of the widget's intended use — ask it something unrelated?
Yes, this is a known limitation of any AI chat interface. The system prompt instructs the model to stay on-topic and say it doesn't know rather than answer off-topic questions, but a determined user can sometimes get an off-topic response. We don't currently have additional guardrails beyond prompt instructions.
Where else can the bot answer besides my website?
On Telegram (you create a bot and paste its token), and on WhatsApp and SMS through your own Twilio account, which Twilio bills you for. You also get a full-page chat link and QR code for places without a website.
What happens when the bot can't answer?
It tells the visitor so and offers to pass the question on. The visitor can leave their email, and the chat becomes a ticket with a short summary. You get an alert by email, Slack or webhook, and can reply from the ticket inbox. The reply goes to their email and into their open chat, or back to Telegram, WhatsApp or SMS if that is where they asked.
Which ticket tools can it send tickets to?
Zendesk, Freshdesk, HubSpot, Jira, Linear, Trello, Asana, ClickUp, monday, Notion, Airtable, GitHub, PagerDuty, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Telegram, Twilio, Mailchimp and MailerLite, plus Slack, email and webhooks. Freshdesk, Jira, HubSpot and Linear have been tested end to end with real accounts; the rest are in beta, meaning built to each service's documentation but not yet proven live, so please tell us if one misbehaves. Zendesk currently works only for older accounts, because Zendesk is removing API tokens. Tickets go one way, from Techvea to the tool; replies written inside those tools are not sent back to the visitor.
Does voice cost extra?
No. Speaking a question and hearing the reply uses the visitor's own browser, so it adds no AI cost. It only appears in browsers that support it, and quality depends on the browser and language.
Can someone copy the widget?
The widget file is visible to anyone, like any website script, and could be copied. It contains no secrets and only works against our servers, where your knowledge base, AI key, answers, tickets and integrations live. You can also lock a bot to your own domain so other sites cannot use it.
Is there a mobile app?
No. The widget is a script that runs in any browser, including mobile browsers — there's no separate app to install.
What counts as a conversation, and what happens when I reach my plan's limit?
A conversation is one visitor's chat session, however many messages it has. The plan limits are per month: Free 10, Starter 1,000, Growth 10,000, and Agency has no limit. We email you when you reach 80% and again at 100%. At the limit, the bot stops answering new conversations (chats already in progress carry on), and new visitors are shown a short message with a form to leave their email, which becomes a ticket for your team, so nobody hits a dead end. Your dashboard shows how many visitors were turned away. The count starts again on the first of each month, and you can upgrade at any time.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes. Every new account gets 7 days of the Growth plan free, with no card. After that you can pick a plan or stay on the limited Free plan (10 conversations a month, our branding on the chat). Nothing is charged unless you subscribe, and there is no setup fee on any plan.
What if I want to cancel?
Plans have no lock-in contract — cancel anytime and you keep access through the end of the period you've already paid for.

Switch to the support bot that costs less and does more

Bigger names charge more for the same thing and mark up every AI reply. Techvea runs on your own AI key, so you pay your AI provider's price and nothing on top.
